Do I need to register my Mobility Scooter?

Registration requirements for mobility scooters in Australia:

Queensland:

Registration required but is FREE for all motorized mobility scooters & wheelchairs.

1. Complete the form F5338, at website:

https://www.qld.gov.au/transport/registration/register/register-a-motorised-mobility-device

2. You can lodge your completed application:

In Person: with an original or copy of the required documentation at a QLD Transport customer service centre

Post: To Department of Transport and Main Roads, MMD Registration, PO Box 126, ROMA QLD 4455.

* If lodging your application by post, send copies of your EOI (Evidence of Identity) documentation.


Western Australia:

Registration required for scooters exceeding 10 km/h and used on public roads.

1. Complete the Motorized Wheelchair/Mobility Scooter Registration Application Form:

2. Attach required documents:

Proof of identity, proof of ownership (e.g., purchase receipt), medical certificate stating the need for the vehicle, and a recent photograph of the scooter.

3. Pay the registration fee:

$46.20

4. Submit the application and documents:

Mail to the Department of Transport address listed on the application form or take it to a Department of Transport customer service center.

5. Receive your registration sticker and card:

Once your application is processed, you'll receive a sticker to display on your scooter and a registration card to keep with you.

 

South Australia:

Registration required for all mobility scooters exceeding 6 km/h.

1. Complete the Application to Register a Personal Mobility Device form:

2. Attach required documents:

Proof of identity, proof of ownership (e.g., purchase receipt), medical certificate stating the need for the vehicle, and a recent photograph of the scooter.

4. Submit the application and documents:

Mail to the Department of Infrastructure and Transport address listed on the application form or take it to a service SA customer service center.

5. Receive your registration sticker and card:

Once your application is processed, you'll receive a sticker to display on your scooter and a registration card to keep with you.

 

Tasmania:

Registration required for all mobility scooters used on public roads.

1. Complete the Application for Registration of a Mobility Scooter form:

2. Attach required documents:

Proof of identity, proof of ownership (e.g., purchase receipt), medical certificate stating the need for the vehicle, and a recent photograph of the scooter.

3. Pay the registration fee:

$32.70

4. Submit the application and documents:

Mail to the Department of State Growth address listed on the application form or take it to a Service Tasmania customer service center.

5. Receive your registration sticker and card:

Once your application is processed, you'll receive a sticker to display on your scooter and a registration card to keep with you.

 

Northern Territory:

No registration required.

 

Australian Capital Territory:

No registration required.

 

New South Wales:

No registration required.

 

Victoria:

No registration required.
