Are scooters safe for me, or my relative / friend?
This is a question often asked. However, the real question is more β¦. βAre scooters safe for me, or my relative / friend?β Itβs an issue about the user safety and whether a scooter is a suitable form of transport for that particular user.
The answer to the question is undoubtedly βYesβ. But in the end, it is up to the user themself to decide if the scooter is a safe form of transport for their requirements.
If you ask another question: βAre scooters a safer form of transport than cars, or even walking?β, then the answer is an unequivical βYESβ! Research done by Scooters Australia and presented to the Australian Consumer and Competition Commission (ACCC), points to scooters being around 3 times as safe as driving a car, being a passenger in a car, or walking on the footpath.

Australian Standards/ISO Standards (Vital for Safety)Β - AS/NZS3695.2:2013
Australian/NZ Safety StandardsΒ - Australian and NZ Standards are the highest in the world and only obtainable through the testing centre in Australia at time of this article. This is an extremely expensive testing system and as such most mobility scooters and wheelchairs do not carry this classification. We are proud to state that all our scooters and Electric Wheelchairs not only have ISO testing, but also the high standard Australian/NZ testing. There can be nothing more important than knowing that the safest possible situation is provided for a person with a disability or aging situation.Β
